As of January 1, 2009, The Kool Kidz Foundation and FOCUS, another nonprofit in Atlanta that serves children with disabilities and their families, merged. By joining together as FOCUS, the merged organization will continue to build programs to serve more children, teens and young adults with disabilities and their families in the greater Atlanta area.

The Kool Kidz Foundation was formed in 2002 when a group of dedicated physical and occupational therapists noticed a huge gap in facilities and services available for the children in their community who fell outside the norm of their able-bodied peers. This gap included a lack of summer programs, competitive sports programs and recreational activities for children with physical, social, cognitive and emotional challenges. The Kool Kidz Foundation was formed to not only provide parallel programs for children who were not eligible for existing services, but also to create an environment where all children could learn and play together without limitations….and have some fun!

From 2002 to 2008, the Kool Kidz Foundation developed and implemented these programs:
